Course Bundles
Several course bundles are available on the Tulane PaCE Learning Management System.
Users will receive a course bundle certificate upon completion of all trainings in each bundle.
A sampling of our current course bundle offerings is listed below.
Bioterrorism Preparedness
This course bundle includes courses that provide training in bioterrorism preparedness and understanding the public health threat. Emergency providers that will be responding to bioterrorism events are also one of the focuses of this program.
Data into Action for Tribes
The Data into Action for Tribes curriculum is designed to provide general guidance and understanding to increase the knowledge among tribal health departments of how to access available data from federal, state, and local resources for program planning surveillance, and data use. The courses included in this curriculum will cover several topics related to data, including an overview of epidemiology, sources of publicly-available data, conducting assessments and writing reports.
Environmental Health in Disasters
This course bundle includes courses that provide an introduction and the fundamentals to risk assessment and environmental health in disasters. In addition, special topics such environmental health in emergency shelters, environmental sampling and environmental monitoring are also the focus of this program.
Environmental Public Health Online Courses (EPHOC)
Environmental Public Health Online Courses (EPHOC) is a comprehensive package of courses for environmental public health practitioners. The 15 courses are taught by experts in their field and include information on various roles and responsibilities of environmental public health staff.
First Responder Preparedness
This course bundle covers subjects in communication, field exercises, handling chemical agents and biological response preparedness.
Leadership Communication
This course bundle is designed to refresh and refine the communication skills needed to succeed in today’s fast-paced and stressful public health environment. Issues covered in the course bundle include: negotiation, conflict resolution, writing techniques, presentation skills, indirect communication styles such as facial expressions and body postures, and the use of media in times of disaster.
Leadership Development
This course bundle stresses application of core functions to public health issues, and translation of leadership skills into tools for community empowerment.
Louisiana Hurricane Response Hub (LaHRH)
This course bundle cover topics related to general safety and health considerations, heat-related illness, private water wells, and mold exposure. Local resources related to Louisiana hurricane preparedness and recovery are provided to strengthen community awareness and resilience.
Louisiana State Board of Examiners for Sanitarians (LSBES)
This course bundle will cover some of the topics that Sanitarians enforce under the Louisiana State Sanitary Code ranging from Food Protection and Wastewater to Pest Management.
Safe Water Program Improvement e-Learning Series (SWPI)
This course bundle will help health department programs strengthen services to people that use wells, cisterns, springs, and other private drinking water systems not covered by the Safe Drinking Water Act. SWPI walks through the 10 Essential Environmental Public Health Services and the Environmental Public Health Performance Standards, and provides examples of using them to identify and fill program gaps in these types of drinking water programs.
Texas Hurricane Response Hub (TxHRH)
This course bundle consists of 8 trainings framed using a Texas coastal lens.
Hurricane Harvey’s experience, with added perspectives from Hurricanes Ike, Rita and Katrina, help us look at topics through the eyes of the people involved. Learners will also see stories by some of our sister projects and their Hurricane Irma or Maria experience. Practitioner family members will also benefit from some of our topics. Harvey illustrates how we are all in this together and can learn from each other.
Transgender Health Learning Series
Like all people, each transgender “trans” person’s life is a different journey. Trans people are no different except they face unique challenges and opportunities specific to being trans. This five course learning series follow a track that many trans people follow in their journey through life. Taken together, these trainings illuminate and inform learners about the transgender healthcare environment.
Tribal Behavioral Health
This course bundle is designed to provide general guidance and understanding to increase the knowledge of behavioral health in the American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) population and among tribal health departments, including issues and challenges and organizations seeking to improve AI/AN behavioral health.
Vector Control for Environmental Health Professionals: The Importance of Integrated Pest Management (VCEHP)
This course bundle contains 11 online courses and emphasizes the use of integrated pest management (IPM) to address public health pests and vectors that spread diseases, including Zika virus and others.
